Behind the Design: Randi Garrett Design for Cailini Coastal
I am so excited to share more about our partnership with Randi Garrett. This is a milestone moment for Cailini Coastal, as it marks our very first co-created collection!
I first met Randi about eight years ago during my previous career as a beauty publicist, and I have admired her style ever since. She has a distinct aesthetic that perfectly reflects who she is as a person: beautiful, elegant, and yet entirely approachable.
Fun fact, Randi was actually the very first creator we ever gifted when I was just three weeks into business, packing boxes in my garage. She was incredibly gracious and supportive then, which makes this partnership feel all the more meaningful now!
What I love about this collaboration is how our styles complement one another. Randi’s aesthetic leans a bit more refined and traditional rather than strictly coastal, which brings a fresh, versatile perspective to our brand. She purposely designed this collection as foundational pieces that can transition seamlessly from season to season simply by swapping out your florals and accessories.
Every detail, from the custom cane print to the soft blue embroidered entertaining pieces, is rooted in the kinds of homes we both love most: timeless, welcoming, and designed for gathering with the people you love most. Working with Randi and seeing her beautiful vision come to life has been an absolute dream!
We had the chance to sit down with Randi and talk more about her journey into design, the influences that have shaped her signature style, and the inspiration behind the collection itself. From meaningful family ties to her love of layered, welcoming homes, I'm excited to share more of the story behind the designs in her own words.
I hope you love this collection as much as we do!
xx Meg

CC: You know we have been fans of yours for many years, but for anyone who's new to your world, how would you describe your design style in your own words?
RG: My design style is rooted in traditional decor with a touch of French glamour. I’m drawn to pieces that tell a story and create a sense of history within a home. I love mixing old and new elements to achieve a layered, beautifully curated look. My love for the coast greatly influences my style, inspiring me to incorporate soothing, timeless colors that bring a sense of calm and effortless beauty to a space. Original artwork is especially meaningful to me, whether it’s framed and displayed on walls or expressed through everyday pieces like dishes, ginger jars, fabrics, and wallpaper.
CC: How did you first get into interior design — was it something you always knew you wanted to do, or did it find you?
RG: I have always loved interior design. My mom and grandma shared that same passion, and they helped nurture my love for creating a beautiful, welcoming home for my family. The college I attended didn’t offer an interior design program, so I pursued another passion of mine and earned a degree in elementary education. I taught second grade for a few years until my first son was born.
I was incredibly blessed to stay home and raise our five children, creating a home that felt warm, welcoming, and deeply loved by all of us. Even during those years, interior design was always close to my heart and woven into the walls of our home.
In 2014, I started an Instagram account to share my design projects and document them as a personal portfolio. What began as a creative outlet unexpectedly opened the door to a career in interior design and a journey filled with incredible opportunities, growth, and meaningful friendships—a path I never could have imagined for myself.

CC: Your blue-and-white palette is so signature — where did that love come from and has it always been central to your style?
RG: My love for blue and white runs deep. The ocean, the sky, and soft white clouds have always captivated me, and those colors bring a sense of calm and comfort that I’m continually drawn to. To me, blue and white are more than just a color palette—they feel timeless, soothing, and deeply connected to the beauty of nature. Filling the walls of our home with those hues feels like a warm embrace.
Blue and white have been woven throughout my life for as long as I can remember. My wedding china is blue and white, a collection that still holds so much meaning to me. Growing up, my childhood bedroom featured a beautiful blue-and-white quilt hand-stitched by my grandmother with sweet doll details that I treasured dearly. My mom also shared a love for blue and white, which makes these colors feel even more personal—connecting me to cherished memories of home, family, and the women who shaped my love for beautiful spaces.
CC: How has your design point of view evolved since you first started? Is there anything you've moved away from or leaned further into over time?
RG: My style has definitely evolved over the years, but there are certain elements I always return to: symmetry, clean lines, timeless details, antiques, and meaningful art. As my style has grown, I’ve found myself leaning more into color and collected pieces that bring personality and warmth into a space.
I prefer to keep my larger furniture pieces neutral and classic, creating a foundation that allows me to layer in whatever colors, patterns, or textures I’m currently inspired by. I’ve also always been drawn to French design, and over time, I find myself embracing those influences more and more. The elegance, charm, and effortless beauty of French pieces feel increasingly like home to me.

CC: Let's talk about the collection — Walk us through the Cane Print — it shows up across the tablecloth, placemats, and the Ellie Pillow. What drew you to that motif and why does it feel so right for this collection?
RG: The Cane print has lived in my mind for years. I could never quite find one that matched the vision I had imagined, so being able to create it myself truly felt like a dream come to life. This print beautifully bridges so many of the styles I love most — blending the elegance of French design with the relaxed charm of coastal and Southern living. Naming it after my daughter, Ellie, makes it even more special to me, tying together both my love for design and the people who inspire me most.

CC: The collection has such a strong tabletop element. Is entertaining important to you at home, and how does that influence the way you design and select pieces?
RG: Yes, absolutely! I love to entertain and gather with family and friends, and I believe there’s something so meaningful about creating spaces where people feel welcomed and loved. I also love elevating the everyday — turning even the simplest gathering into something beautiful and memorable.
Gathering around a table is such a powerful way to connect with one another, and I truly believe the details matter. Creating a beautiful setting is the icing on the cake; it makes the people gathered there feel seen, celebrated, and special.
I’m especially drawn to pieces that are versatile, timeless, and made to be used again and again. Every piece in this collection was thoughtfully designed to work beautifully together or blend seamlessly with pieces you already own. My hope is that you’ll pull them out throughout every season of the year, gather with the people you love most, and create lasting memories around your table.

CC: The Wren Napkin is your personal favorite — what is it about that piece that resonates with you?
RG: Every detail feels deeply personal to me — from the name to the embroidery to the colors. Each element carries its own layer of meaning and sentiment.
The Wren is the name we lovingly gave to the home we built for our family. Wrens symbolize comfort, safety, and gathering, which made the name feel especially fitting for the heart of our home. The chinoiserie-inspired embroidery features a delicate wren paired with whimsical florals — all things I have always been drawn to and love deeply.
The color palette of soft blue and white with touches of pale pink and green, is woven throughout our home and even my wardrobe. These hues feel timeless, calming, and full of warmth to me. My hope is that these napkins inspire you to gather often, celebrate the beauty in everyday moments, and perhaps feel a small piece of my heart woven into them as well.
CC: If someone could only bring home one piece from the collection, which piece would you tell them to start with and why?
RG: Oh, that is such a tough question — it feels a little like choosing a favorite child! Haha! I truly love every piece in the collection, and I think any one of them would be a beautiful place to start. But if I had to choose just one, it would be The Wren Napkin.
It’s truly a showstopper. I love the meaning behind it, the intricate design, and the soft, timeless colors. It also pairs beautifully with so many different tablecloths, dishes, and entertaining styles, making it incredibly versatile. More than anything, though, I hope The Wren inspires people to gather around the table with the ones they love most — because creating spaces for connection and memory-making is the heart behind everything I design.
