To keep your pieces looking beautiful for years to come, we have outlined specific care instructions by fabric type below. Before treating any spills or starting a deep clean, we always recommend double-checking the exact fabric composition listed on your item's product page.

PERFORMANCE FABRICS

InsideOut Performance Fabrics®

General Cleaning:

  • Since dust and dirt can cause fabric to wear faster, we recommend vacuuming regularly with an upholstery attachment, applying light pressure.
  • Flip, rotate and fluff removable cushions regularly to ensure even wear and increase longevity.
  • An annual professional cleaning will keep your upholstered furniture looking its best.
  • Maintenance requires promptly treating spots and stains and should include routine, on-going care which reduces soil build-up on a fabric’s surface.
  • Do not rub or brush excessively or you may cause fuzzing.

Spot Cleaning:

  • InsideOut Performance Fabrics® are designed to protect your investment. Most everyday stains — including food, spills, and dirt — can be cleaned with a simple mixture of dish soap and water.
  • For tougher stains like red wine or marker, use a diluted bleach solution or a household spray cleaner such as Lysol or Clorox. When used as directed, these cleaners will not discolor or damage the fabric.

Crypton Performance Fabrics

General Cleaning:

  • Do not rub or brush excessively or you may cause fuzzing.

Spot Cleaning:

  • Spot clean only with water-based shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. Pre-test a small, inconspicuous area for color bleeding, fading, or color transfer.
  • Do not over-saturate. Use professional upholstery cleaning service for overall soiling.

Wearproof Plus Fabrics

General Cleaning:

  • Since dust and dirt can cause fabric to wear faster, we recommend vacuuming regularly with an upholstery attachment, applying light pressure.
  • Flip, rotate and fluff removable cushions regularly to ensure even wear and increase longevity.
  • An annual professional cleaning will keep your upholstered furniture looking its best.
  • Maintenance requires promptly treating spots and stains and should include routine, on-going care which reduces soil build-up on a fabric’s surface.
  • Do not rub or brush excessively or you may cause fuzzing.

Spot Cleaning:

  • Dilute a mild detergent in distilled water. With a clean white cloth, blot the stained area, working from the outside of the stain inward, to prevent the stain from expanding. Do not rub as this may damage the fabric.
  • Repeat this step to make sure all soap is removed, as any remaining cleaning solutions will attract dirt for future stains and may leave a water mark area that can appear to be a stain.

Machine Washing:

  • Be sure to wash all parts of the slipcover to maintain even color and wear.
  • Pre-washed fabrics that are not Slipcovers can be spot-cleaned with a water-soluble cleaner but not washed in a washing machine as the seams may unravel.
  • Only slipcovers in washable fabrics can be cleaned in a washing machine. Slipcovers have surged and double loop lock stitching on seams to prevent unraveling when washed. Fabrics that are not washable may shrink, fade, or be damaged if washed.

 

WASHABLE FABRICS

  • Clean this fabric with water-based cleaning agents, foam or pure solvents (Petroleum Distillate-Based products).
  • Professional cleaning is recommended.

OTHER

General Cleaning:

  • Do not rub or brush excessively or you may cause fuzzing.

Spot Cleaning:

  • Spot clean with a water-free, dry-cleaning solvent only.
  • Pre-test a small, inconspicuous area first.
  • Do not over-saturate. Do not use water.
  • Cushion covers should not be removed and dry-cleaned as this may cause fabric color to fade.
  • To prevent overall soiling, frequently vacuum or lightly brush with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to remove dust and grime.
  • When cleaning a spill, blot immediately to remove spilled material.
  • Clean stains from the outside of the affected area, moving toward the center, to prevent the stain from migrating outward.
  • Pile fabrics may require brushing gently with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to restore appearance.
