CC ACK BEACH HOUSE: All the Paint Colors We're Using
One of the most frequent questions we receive about our Connecticut home is about the paint colors. Since it's such a popular topic, I thought I’d share all the paint colors we’re using in our Nantucket home as well!
The biggest change in our redesign is the extensive use of paint. From built-in cabinetry to floors and walls, we’re embracing paint in a big way throughout this home!
When we first purchased the home, it was entirely white—no color at all. We loved the white that was used, which is Benjamin Moore Simply White, but the home was screaming for color...and wallpaper (more on that later!).
The front door was painted a very bright blue when we purchased it. While I love nearly every shade of blue, this color choice was a little too bold for the front door. We changed it to Benjamin Moore Denim Wash (a beautiful gray-blue) with a lacquered finish. The below is a photo of our mudroom door in the same new Denim Wash color.
The majority of the downstairs walls are covered in white shiplap, which is such a clean beachy look, so we kept it. In the living room (pictured below), we added color to the inset panels of the ceiling in Benjamin Moore Lily White - a beautiful soft blue. We have this color in the primary bedroom of our Connecticut home and it's one of my favorites. It's a subtle hint of color.
In the laundry room, we painted the cabinets a beautiful coastal blue, Benjamin Moore Sea View, and added a decorative painted runner on the floor.
There are so many great blue paint hues in this house, and here is another! In our primary bedroom we kept the shiplap wall white and painted the dry wall Benjamin Moore Blue Veil.
For the office, we chose to paint the walls, trim and built-in cabinetry all Benjamin Moore Downpour Blue - the perfect moody, nautical blue.
We loved this blue so much that we also used it in the built-in bunk rooms for the shiplap, trim and built-in beds. Above the shiplap we'll be wallpapering in a blue and white stripe.
Lynn (of Lynn Morgan Design) is a lover of decorative painting and now she's made me one too. It's not only transformative to a space but truly feels unique. She inspired us to get creative with the spaces in this home by painting the floors of the entryway and laundry room, as well as adding striped walls to one of the bedrooms.
