CC ACK Beach House: 1st Floor Mood Boards

Before we get started, we wanted to share that if you’re loving this Nantucket content, be sure to follow @ackbeachhouse. This new account is all about the home as a rental property and will be sharing even more insights into the house and life on Nantucket.

Now, let’s dive into the mood boards!

Every space I design begins with a mood board. I love scrolling through Pinterest, flipping through my favorite design books and magazines, and collecting inspiration. Whether it’s a photo from a book or a screenshot from Pinterest, I add it all to a board in Canva to start forming the vision for the space.

Over the past five years, we've fully designed three homes—California, Connecticut, and now Nantucket. Designing an entire home can be overwhelming—especially for someone like me who isn’t a professional designer! Tackling the design remotely for both our Connecticut and Nantucket homes added an extra layer of complexity. We were living in California while our Connecticut home was under construction, which is why I reached out to Lynn Morgan Design for their expertise. Working with Lynn was an absolute dream, and I've built such a wonderful friendship with her and the team. So, when it came time to design our Nantucket home, it was a no-brainer to partner with them again—especially given their extensive experience on the island, which is a unique challenge to navigate on its own!

I always start with a ton of ideas, but I share them with Lynn and her team, and they have an incredible ability to elevate the vision. They bring unique touches to every project—decorative painting (think painted floors) and one-of-a-kind, custom-designed pieces that we can actually create and bring to life.  It’s been the perfect partnership!

I’m excited to share the finished mood boards we’ve created together below and can’t wait to reveal what’s coming for the CC Nantucket Beach House (including new products for CC and all the paint colors used)!

THE ENTRY

The entry is small but charming, with its white shiplap walls. To infuse some color and personality, we’re painting the interior door in a lacquered Benjamin Moore Old Blue Jeans 839 (which will match the exterior), paired with a stunning blue-and-white geometric painted floor. We’re also adding a custom coastal flush mount light, all thoughtfully coordinated with the door color. Additionally, we’re transforming the coat closet into a built-in bench with cubby drawers underneath for extra storage. To complete the look, we'll add sconces and a cozy blue cushion for a welcoming touch.

THE LIVING ROOM

As you step into the home, this space immediately captures your attention, with expansive views out to the pool and cabana through the windows. It’s the focal point of the entire home, so we wanted to create a coastal vibe that feels both relaxed and inviting. We chose white slipcovered sofas (made with a durable fabric, of course!), an indoor/outdoor striped rug, and some playful, custom-upholstered club chairs. The sofas and rug will be available on Cailíní Coastal later this year! To enhance the coastal feel, we’ll add plenty of carefully curated accents through lighting and decor.

THE DINING ROOM

The living room flows seamlessly into the dining area, a space adorned with shiplap and featuring a stunning vaulted ceiling. For the dining setup, we’ve chosen our  Ditch Plains Dining Table, which pairs perfectly with the nautical-inspired Rachel Chandelier. We’re also adding a touch of creativity by ordering these affordable rattan dining chairs from Ikea, which we’ll spray paint blue for a custom look. It’s the perfect blend of high and low design!

THE KITCHEN

The dining room seamlessly opens up to the kitchen, which features a cozy dining nook just off to the side. We’ll be bringing color into this space with custom nautical lanterns and gorgeous, custom window treatments. In the seating area, we’re adding a custom striped banquette (coming to CC later this year!)—the perfect spot for morning coffee, playing games, and enjoying late afternoon rosé.

THE LAUNDRY ROOM

Just off the kitchen is the laundry room, another space that needed a little extra color! With its shiplap walls, we decided to paint the built-in cabinetry in Benjamin Moore Sea View 836 for a fresh pop. To add even more character, we’ve designed a stunning painted floor that mimics the look of a runner. We’ll finish the space with our Painted No. 2 Sconce  and custom blue-and-green cafe curtains for a charming, cohesive look.

THE PRIMARY BEDROOM

The primary bedroom is the only bedroom on the first floor, offering a serene retreat with two French doors that open up to the beautiful backyard. To enhance the space, we’re designing a custom upholstered bed, paired with stunning striped custom drapery. The room will be further elevated with the rattan Telos Chandelier and our calming "Swim" art to create a truly tranquil space.

THE STAIRCASE

Nantucket is steeped in history, and its timeless design beautifully blends the old with the new. While our home isn’t historic, I wanted to weave in some nautical heritage and found inspiration in vintage ship art. We’re creating a gallery wall along the staircase, showcasing a mix of vintage and new pieces. The new artwork will be part of a curated CC art collection, created specifically for this home, and will be available later this year. The stair runner is also arriving this summer, and the pendant lighting will be our Beaufort Lantern, adding the perfect coastal touch.

Stay tuned, next week we'll be sharing the 2nd Floor and basement mood boards!

xx Meg
