CC: What is the inspiration behind this look?
SS: We wanted this brunch setting to feel bright and happy! It was inspired by the simplicity of morning light, with a crisp, warm and neutral color palette. It has an effortless, lived in feeling that represents all the cheery moments of being gathered around the breakfast table.

CC: We love the clean simplicity of this look; but understand that there is a blend of simplicity with fun elements to keep it interesting! How do you find that balance?
SS: There is so much simplicity in everyday items you can keep in your home – china, flatware, glassware. It often feels safe to gravitate towards pieces that match – like white china and clear glassware. However, this is a perfect example that some elevated textures and a pop of color can completely change the way eating at home can look! For example, we love the addition of a woven charger. While it would normally feel too formal to add a charger to a breakfast table, the natural texture of the rattan feels casual and understated. We took the same approach with the linen napkins, teak flatware, rattan glassware and ceramic plates – all pieces that look simple, however their colors and textures add a fun and memorable touch.

CC: What are the basic elements to a more casual setting like this?
SS: This table is pre-set for more of a “family-style” experience. There are fruit platters on the table, croissants on the bar cart (and most likely a fresh frittata on the stove)! Pre-setting plates like this allow everyone to serve themselves and course out the meal – cold to hot. We love the pitcher with fresh fruit as an added décor piece so everyone can serve themselves water – and how cute are these embroidered hemstitch napkins designed by chep?!

CC: We love the fresh cut kumquats! If you can't find them, what are other live alternatives that you love to use?
SS: The fresh cumquats bring this table setting to life! The perfect pop of citrus Another sweet and simple alternative would be tangerines or clementines.
CC: What do you consider when determining your floral arrangements for a table?
SS: For an at-home, everyday feel– we love sticking to one style of floral or greenery vs. mixed arrangements. It has a more residential feel, plus using greens or florals with a branch-like composition last much longer than petaled florals! Statice or wax flower has the perfect hint of white mixed with natural greenery and we love how the long-stem gives a taller feel at the center of the round table.
