A Cozy Seaside Bedroom Refresh
With every season, I give my home a décor refresh, and twice a year I give my bedding a refresh. I change my bedding with the weather. From April through early September, I opt for lighter materials - like breathable linens and cottons - and keep our beds in bright whites and blue hues. Once that first chilly morning arrives in fall, I update my bedding for the cooler months ahead.

CALIFORNIA COASTAL BEDROOM
I’m always inspired by Southern California and the life we recently left there. The sun shines most of the time, and as a result there is a brightness that exists always in homes, regardless of the design. Since we no longer have the guaranteed daily sunshine living in Connecticut, I channel that SoCal style by creating brighter spaces with airy color palettes that include lots of white and cream hues.
While fall does evoke a moodier palette, I tired to find a balance by keeping some elements of this room light, starting with the foundation and our NEW Tokeneke Wool Rug. Featuring a chevron pattern, this soft, beautifully neutral rug, adds brightness to the space.
I paired our Velvet Indigo Quilt by John Robshaw with the Eniya Duvet – a contrast of the moodier rich indigo paired with a lighter white and soft blue palette.
The pillows are my favorite part of the bed! I love the mix of patterns, sizes, textures and colors.
The complete this coastal fall room, I added autumnal décor including our Velvet Pumpkins and Antiqued Hydrangea Arrangement.

NEW ENGLAND NAUTICAL WINTER BEDROOM
I am sharing a “before” photo below of what this room looked like in spring/summer so you can see the transformation of a space with just art and bedding! You don't need to change the furniture to achieve a completely difference look and feel.

For our 2nd fall/winter seasonal in coastal Connecticut, I wanted to embrace our new surroundings and really create a New England at Christmas time atmosphere.
This summer to winter room transformation began with the bedding. I once again paired our Velvet Indigo Quilt (so cozy for the cooler months) but this time with our Lanai Stripe Duvet – which features a classic ticking stripe pattern. I folded our French Knot Throw at the foot of the bed. I love this new throw - the indigo knots and tassels make it such an interesting and unique piece to add to the foot of a bed. Once I added the dark indigo layers of bedding the art looked out of place, so I swapped our Blue Haze Seafans for our NEW Nautical Oars and the space instantly felt cohesive.
To add some festive holiday spirit, I styled touches of nautical holiday décor throughout the room.
