Must-Haves For a Functional & Beautiful Kitchen

Kitchens are one of our favorite spaces to style, but they can be tricky trying to balance form & function.  How do you create a functional kitchen that’s not cluttered with appliances and cords?  First, limit the number of appliances by only keeping the ones you use most often on the counter and tuck the others away.  Also, try to find appliances that match your kitchen's colors so they blend in.  For example, if you have white counters & stainless steel appliances, nix the black coffee pot and opt for a sleek white or stainless steel one. Next - our favorite part - sprinkle in the accessories!

CHARCUTERIE BOARDS

Charcuterie boards are a great way to warm up a kitchen counter.  We recommend leaning them upright against your backsplash.  You can layer boards by styling two different sizes, shapes or colors together, or just use one larger board.

CHIC CULINARY UTENSILS & VASES

We like to use  matching all white culinary utensils  & arrange them in a stylish vase.  Ditch the plastic utensil holder and add some style with a marble, wood or ceramic option

ORGANIZE WITH TRAYS

Kitchen counters and islands often become the landing pad for mail, clutter and junk which can quickly turn your stylish kitchen into a messy one.  We like to keep things organized and neat by using a tray.  Set a beautiful tray on your counter to help keep all the clutter organized.  In a larger kitchen with ample counter space, trays also make a great vignette when styled with accessories - like vases, photo frames and candles.

PRETTY HAND SOAP & CANDLE

Ok, so technically this is two items, but since they both fall under home fragrance we rolled them into one.  First, let's chat hand soaps.  A beautiful hand soap can make all the difference for your kitchen sink.  Large glass bottle soaps or a stylish caddy with a soap and hand cream duo look lovely next to a sink. Fancy hand soaps do cost more than your standard Mrs. Meyers - so if you don't want to use it daily, swap it out for the good stuff when guests visit.

Whenever we're not filling the kitchen with the yummy scents from the food we're cooking, we always have a candle burning.  I usually prefer light, cleaner scents in the kitchen, so they dont interfere with any potential food scents later in the day. Currently I am lighting our REMEDIUM fall scents daily -  which makes our entire downstairs smell like we're baking cinnamon apple or pumpkin pie.
